Charlie … It’s Alive!
In about the second week of January, Charlie was alive. It was still in its embryonic stage, but it was alive. The Entity System, the Web System, and the Plugin System were beating together as one. There was very little to see, but its tiny body was starting to form. Like any proud father I enjoyed a cigarette and, in the tendrils of its smoke, envisaged the kid’s happy childhood and successful adulthood. When the cigarette burned out and the visions faded, I realised how much more work I had to do.
Still, I was very happy. No longer was Charlie a concept that existed only in the hundreds of bits of paper I had produced. Charlie was a software entity, and it worked. I figured that it was time to get a few more innards in place. (The metaphor is getting a bit gruesome now, so I’ll stop there.) It was time to introduce the business objects that the Entity System was developed to support.
